A HAPPY ACCIDENT ~ SNOOPY CHRISTMAS CARD

When I was making all those cards yesterday, I stopped because I ran out of the little squares I was using to layer the cards with. I dropped this image on top of the red paper and that's when I realized I could use this a different way. A little paper ripping here ... a little more glitter glue there and it was done. I really wish the background paper was blue instead of red. I may have to go to Michaels and see what they have. Meanwhile, this is one card that I'm putting in the keep pile; at least conceptually. I'm still not sure about the other six I posted about yesterday. I could sure use some feedback ... hint, hint, hint :D

PEANUTS STICKERS + HERSHEY NUGGETS = YUMMY GIFT!

I found Peanuts stickers at Dollar Tree! It's the same Peanuts stickers that you use to wrap Hershey's Nuggets. (OK, you actually wrap the nuggets with 1"x3" strips of paper and decorate the paper with the stickers.)

I had gotten some before at Michaels but they never replaced them after I purchased them. My LSS carries Sandylion stickers but not these.

I had heard that the Dollar Tree was carrying them and I almost missed them because they were on a clip strip that was so low it was scraping the floor! I had them check the back room for me but there were no more. This was the only one. I guess I'll be driving to the next town soon to check things at their Dollar Tree ... lol.

MY MERRY LITTLE SNOWMAN CARD

Isn't this snowman the sweetest? It's only the beginning of Autumn and I find myself wishing for snow already. I have two motives. The first is to finally be done with seasonal allergies. The second, of course, is to play in the snow. Ok, there may be a third motive ... Christmas Vacation!

When you're a Homeschooler you find yourself wishing for vacation time almost as much as the children do (with me, perhaps it's even a little more so .. lol). I've been at it for 12 years now and still have 6 more to go. A lot of people think that since I'm home all day, I have plenty of time to get everything done here. The truth of the matter is ... I'm in a classroom all day ~ just the same as any other teacher. Believe me, if you leave any students in any classroom alone for any period of time, the same thing happens ... and it's NOT schoolwork... lol. The only major difference (besides the size of the class and the size of the paycheck) is that I get to stare at my house all day and everything that still needs to be done while I'm at work. That's part of why I love vacation time so much. It's the only time of the year when I have any time to work on special projects ... and to play :D

CUTTLEBUG CHRISTMAS TREE CARD

I have been wanting to get this embossing folder since the very first time I saw it. Unfortunately, my Michaels stocks only four of the dozens of A4-size embossing folders that Cuttlebug makes. A big THANK YOU goes to Faye for picking this up for me ~ and on sale, no less. What a treasure!

I've seen a lot of different things done with this folder, but to me simple is better. I used some of the seed beads Annika sent to me, a few sticky back pearls, and a ribbon. That's it. It didn't take long and it's simple and elegant. Now that's my kind of Christmas card.

LET IT SNOW! ~ MITTEN SHAPED CARD

I just love the snow! I grew up in a part of the country where we got plenty of snow. Where we live now, we usually get ice more than snow. When we do get snow it rarely amounts to much. So every winter, unlike most Moms, I find myself wishing for snow.

I saw a mitten card on Splitcoast that had the snowflakes embossed on it. I didn't have a pattern for the mitten so I just winged it. This is my wish for a white winter. :D

CARPE CUPCAKE ~ SEIZE THE CUPCAKE CARD

This cupcake comes in a set of acrylic stamps from Hero Arts and they are all very yummy looking. I should warn you not to play with them on an empty stomach ... lol.

I got these stamps because of the almost magical appeal cupcakes have with kids. I could have a slice of cake on one plate and a cupcake on the other and 9 times out of 10, the kids will choose the cupcake. It makes sense: it's portable, you're allowed to hold it in your hands, you don't have to use utensils, they're usually very colorful, you can lick the frosting, you get to peel the paper cup off, and last but not least, most cupcakes have an added bonus ~ sprinkles.

YOU ARE IN MY THOUGHTS & PRAYERS

I was thinking of Grandma today when I made this card. She is constantly in my thoughts and prayers. It's hard to be far away from those you cherish when they're sick. We are planning to travel there soon. Meanwhile, I can send her a hug and a prayer with this card. Please pray for Grandma (Jessica).

SNOOPY CUPCAKE CARD

No dog food here! Snoopy hit the jackpot this time ~ a cupcake as big as he is. It's a doggie dream come true :D

The look on Snoopy's face reminds me of the look my kids used to get when they were little and I would make mini-muffins for them. I always found the regular sized cupcakes were too messy in their little hands, so I would make the mini-muffins and let them have two ~ "one for each hand". It didn't matter to them that they were smaller. They were thrilled because they got to have TWO!

A MUSICAL HELLO CARD

I don't know about you, but I don't get to talk to my friends as much as I would like. I usually think to call them when I get a break during the day but I know they're not home. On weeknights when I do get a chance, I know they're at home dealing with supper and homework and that it's just not a good time to call. The times I know are good to catch them at home are usually the times I'm the busiest ... so we do the next best thing. We e-mail each other. E-mail is good for getting information back and forth and "keeping up" with what's going on, but it's not the same as a good chat.

Fortunately, there is another option. Sometimes, when you don't have much to say, but you want to let your friends know that you are thinking of them, a good old fashioned card will do the trick. It's just a quick hello, but it took a little effort and it lets your friend know they are important to you. It's kind of like sending a hug in the mail. It let's people know you care.

SNOOPY CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE CARD

Dog's know that people food is way better than dog food. That's why they come to the dinner table to beg. People know it too. That's why there's usually someone at the table who takes pity on the poor dog and gives him a treat.

Chocolate, on the other hand, is something that is really good that we cannot share with dogs. My dog goes nuts when anyone has chocolate. He just can't sniff enough and he doesn't understand why we won't share it with him. He gives us the most pitiful looks. It's really sad.

Poor Snoopy looks a little sad too. He's staring at dog food and smelling chocolate chip cookies. Poor thing! No wonder he took a bite out of the card ... lol. Life can be so unfair sometimes.
