A LITTLE PICKUP

I love this set from Stampin' Up! because you can use it for so many things. This was for a masking swap so I stamped the truck and then covered (masked) the truck while I stamped the trees so they would appear to be behind the truck. Splitcoast has a really neat tutorial for it HERE if you'd like to take a look.

The papers used here are beautiful handmade papers that were sent to me by a friend. You really can't see the detail on the card but it's colored and shaded using chalks. It really does look pretty up close.

Thanks for stopping by. There's another masked card coming soon ... with an Easter bunny on it. :D

SNOOPY "KISSABLES" CARD

Sorry folks, I just couldn't resist. hee hee hee

I don't have a clue where/when/how a giant bunny got involved with Easter, but I do have a vivid imagination and I know a good joke when I see one ...lol. So, this card was designed, in its entirety, to make the recipient laugh (and give her some yummy chocolate). In case you're wondering, the bunny "poop" is made of Hershey's Kissables.

FUNKY TIE DYE T-SHIRT ~ WAX RESIST CARD

Doing this wax resist technique was fun ... once I got the hang of it. It took quite a few tries before I had the right paper / heat combination. The actual technique calls for you to crinkle up a piece of wax paper and then sandwich it in between two sheets of glossy cardstock (with the glossy part touching the wax paper). Then you iron the sandwich from both sides to melt the wax onto the cardstock. Next you use a brayer and roll ink on top of the card. The ink will resist sticking wherever the blobs of wax are. For detailed instrucions, check out the tutorial HERE.

I chose to color my paper by using a rainbow stamp pad and then cut out the shape of a t-shirt. Then, you can't have a tie dye t-shirt without blue jeans. So, I used a denim patterned paper for the base of the card. The flower and the sentiment are rub-ons from Stampin' Up!

I'm really happy with the results. If you're feeling brave ... you could try it too! :D

A LITTLE BIRDIE TOLD ME IT WAS YOUR BIRTHDAY

First off, I have to give credit where credit it due: the feathers were a gift from Meg F. and the papers were from Angela B.When I saw the feathers it reminded me of some cat images I had. I paired that with the papers and a card was born. I will be making more cards and I'll be posting them here, so stay tuned. :D

Thank you again, Meg & Angela!

LIVING A LONG, LONG TIME SNOOPY CARD

For some reason, stamping cards with the Peanuts characters brings out the wiseguy in me ... lol. When I saw this car, I knew I had to make a card with this sentiment in it.

The black strip with the white stripes is actually a thin ribbon I found at Michaels. Then, I was pleasantly surprised when I realized that I had silver brads that were the perfect size for the hubcaps. I think they will be a permanent accessory for this stamp from now on.

Thanks for stopping by ... and remember ... it's better to be over the hill than under it.

HAPPINESS IS WARM PUPPY ~ LINUS & SNOOPY CARD

I actually started making a completely different card for the alphabet swap. I spent half a day working on it and decided it just wasn't right. I started searching my brains for what I could make for the letter L and then I realized ... duh! ...how about Linus? I thought of it because my puppy always seems to know when I'm feeling down and goes into goofball mode until he makes me laugh.

Thanks for visiting.

THINK BIG ~ WORDS & LETTERS SWAP

I was working on making cards without stamping when I found this vellum quote. I had just gotten the flowers in a clearance bin at my LSS and the colors were perfect. I added a few papers from DCWV and a card was born!

It's difficult to see on the scan, but the silver stripes in the background are all glittery. It's funny where the creative process takes you. I certainly never would've started out making an elephant card with bling ... yet, here it is ... lol.

LIFE HAPPENS ~ SNOOPY CARDS

I was working on making cards without stamping. As I was searching through my papers, I found some extra stamped images from my Christmas cards. Among them was one of Snoopy sleeping on his doghouse. The doghouse was covered in Christmas lights. Well I definitely wanted to use the Snoopy, but I would have to replace the doghouse. Then I stumbled on these papers and I knew I'd found my house.

This card was also designed using a sketch challenge. I just did this one landscape instead of portrait. :D

I also made a pink version to add to the cards for the cancer fundraiser.

Thanks for looking!

SMOKEY THE CAT~ SKETCH CHALLENGE

I'd never done a card from a sketch before, but I was feeling brave. This kitty image reminded me of a little gray kitty I had as a kid. His name was Smokey. The color of the cat pretty much determined the color of the card. I threw in the red flower to give it a little punch of color. Thanks for stopping by!

A LITTLE CHOCOLATE DOESN'T HURT

This was another card that came out of my night of cardmaking without stamping. I always like a little chocolate when I'm stamping, but this night had no stamping and no chocolate. Needless to say, when I saw this cardstock, it screamed chocolate to me, and it's the only chocolate I know of that's fat free ... lol

COLOR BLOCK CARDS ARE FUN!

This gray card came in a card kit I got on QVC a few years ago. It had a darker embellishment that the flower was set on, but it was a little too dark for me, so I substituted the quote and attached the flower to it.

Once I did that, I got inspired and pulled out some DCWV papers and made some of my own.

I didn't have any more of those flower embellishments, so I made my own from circles of cardstock with Stampin' Up! rub-ons added.

Thanks for visiting! Come back again. :D

A CARD FOR MY NEWFOUND FRIENDS

I spent an evening making cards without stamping. It was a neat challenge and led me in some directions I might not have thought of otherwise. A clear example of that would be the acetate and rub-on cards in the last post. This card was decided by the paper. I've always loved that quote and the paper seemed just perfect for it. Thanks for stopping by!

ACETATE + RUB-ONS = FUN!

I have a mental block when it comes to looking at card sketches and emulating them. I can however, look at a card and instantly think of several ways I might do it. That's what happened here. I had made this card from a kit that used color blocks. It had an acetate overlay with a sentiment about family on it. I liked the card, but I wanted more flexibility with the sentiment.

(This was the card from the Card Kit I got on QVC a few years back.)

So, I opened a pack of Bazzil papers and picked out some colors. Originally, I was thinking of using overhead projector sheets to print out a sentiment, but then I found the acetate that I was sure I had saved from my old demonstrator days and they were pre-cut to card size. That means no big sheets to run through my printer ... hmmmm.

That's when it dawned on me to try the Stampin' Up! rub-ons. It was so much fun! I attached the acetate to the card with brads first, to keep the acetate from sliding around. Then with just a few rubs, the card was transformed.

We had such a blast doing these that my youngest DD and I used up an entire sheet of rub-ons making card after card. This is definitely something I want to make again and again. Thanks for visiting!

Here are some scans of some of our cards. Unlike the photo above, you will not see the acetate, but it's there. :D
