TRI-SHUTTER CARD

I was sorting through my files yesterday when I stumbled upon these pictures of a card I made last August and never posted. I made it for a swap and it was posted on the group, but somehow it never made it to the blog (probably because I was waiting for my swap partner to receive it first and then forgot about it). Life happens.

Anyway, this is a Tri-Shutter card. You can find a tutorial and photo gallery for this type of card at Splitcoast Stampers. Normally, you would treat each little square and rectangle separately and decorate it along the lines of Bonnie's beautiful card:

I went to my LSS to look for papers for my card and spotted this really cool under the sea paper. That's when I decided to be a little adventurous and try to make the card into one big scene instead.

I really liked the look of it, although it's hard to show the whole card in just one photo. In this photo you can see where I added a little aquarium embellishment in the center. It came with the embellishments and was just too cute to leave out.

This card was a lot of fun to make. In some ways I think using decorative paper like this makes it a lot simpler too; although getting the cuts on the paper just right was a little tedious (especially since they only had one sheet of it so mistakes weren't an option).

If you really wanted to be adventurous, you could try making a Stampscape scene on the whole card instead of using decorative papers. I'm not that brave yet. Besides, there are so many fantastic decorative papers out there I'll definitely want to explore this option some more, before I go to the next level of difficulty ...lol.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Have a great weekend!

Hugs,
Snoopy :D
P.S. I just got a note from Splitcoast Stampers congratulating me, "In the General Stamping Talk forum, you're in the FAVORITES for the week ending February 26, 2012 (see post #3)." YIPPEEE!!!
